Project Overview

PearlOxy Uganda Limited is a biomedical startup founded in 2023, working to close the gap in reliable medical oxygen access for hospitals and clinics across Uganda and Sub-Saharan Africa, including situations where power is unreliable and conventional supply chains fail.

The site's job is to make a technical, capital-intensive proposition legible to three different readers at once: a hospital administrator evaluating supply reliability, a partner or investor assessing the opportunity, and a journalist or the merely curious trying to understand the problem in the first place.

02

The Challenge

Medical-device and infrastructure startups face a credibility gap that consumer products don't. The claims are high-stakes, since oxygen access is a matter of patient survival, so vague reassurance reads as evasive, but a page written only for clinical or investment specialists loses everyone else.

The organisation also needed the site to carry weight for multiple audiences at once: partners deciding whether to collaborate, healthcare facilities considering the service, and investors sizing the opportunity, without turning into three separate sites.

  • Make a high-stakes, technical proposition legible to non-specialists
  • Serve healthcare partners, investors and the public on the same pages
  • State the scale of the problem with real figures, not adjectives
  • Keep a founder-led biomedical startup feeling credible, not like a pitch deck
03

The Approach

The 'Who We Are' page opens with the numbers that justify the whole company (the oxygen gap, the human cost, the cost-effectiveness of the innovation, the market opportunity) before a single sentence of mission language. The reasoning has to be visible before the ambition is.

A founder photograph and a direct quote from the CEO sit alongside the mission statement, so the commitments on the page are attached to a named person rather than reading as institutional copy.

  • Lead with figures, follow with narrative
  • Founder identity attached directly to the mission statement
  • Mission, vision and solution presented as switchable panels rather than one long scroll
04

Design

A clinical, trustworthy blue system, with photography of real clinical settings and the founding team rather than stock imagery of generic 'medical' scenes.

Statistics are set as large numerals in soft card treatments so the page's most persuasive content, the numbers, reads before anything else in the section.

05

Development

A structured multi-page site (Home, Who We Are, Consultation, Insights, Contact and FAQ) built so each audience has a page that answers their specific question rather than one page trying to do everything.

Contact information, including a direct phone line and consultation booking, is placed consistently so the path from interest to conversation is never more than one click away.

  • Structured navigation across distinct audience-facing pages
  • Consultation booking and direct contact details placed consistently
  • Reusable card and stat-block patterns for the team to extend

Optimization

Photography was compressed and sized for its display dimensions, and page metadata was written per page. This is a site that needs to perform in search for a fairly specific set of health-infrastructure terms rather than a brand name people already know.

08

Outcome

PearlOxy has a site that states its case with figures before adjectives, and gives healthcare partners, investors and the public each a page that speaks to them specifically.

The statistics shown are the organisation's own published figures. Verified traffic and enquiry data will be added here once measured.

Lessons

For a startup this early and this technical, the numbers do more persuasive work than the mission statement does. Putting the oxygen gap, the market size and the cost figures ahead of the narrative made the narrative land better when it arrived, not worse.
