Project Overview
RecyclePay Uganda operates in a category where the first job of the website is explanation. Visitors arrive without a mental model of how the service works, so the site has to teach before it can convert.
The build focused on a clear explanatory flow, then a direct route to getting in touch.
The Challenge
When a service model is unfamiliar, the usual marketing-site structure works against you. Feature lists and value statements assume the reader already understands the basic proposition. They do not.
The site needed to answer 'what is this and how does it work for me' in the first screen, and only then move on to detail.
The Approach
I structured the homepage as a sequence: what the service is, how it works in clear steps, who it is for, and how to start. Each step answers the question the previous one raises.
Language was kept plain throughout, with no attempt to make a practical service sound like a technology platform.
- Explanation-first homepage sequence
- Process shown as discrete, numbered steps
- Contact routes repeated at each natural decision point
Design
The design leans on clear sectioning and generous spacing so each explanatory step is visually distinct. Iconography and numbering carry the process, keeping the reader oriented without long blocks of text.
Development
Built on WordPress with a structure that lets the team extend service and location content over time without needing layout changes.

Optimization
Attention went to mobile load weight and to on-page SEO for service and location terms, since discovery for this kind of service is largely local search.
- Local-intent on-page SEO
- Compressed, correctly sized imagery
- Semantic markup and metadata per page
Outcome
The service now has a site that explains itself without a sales conversation first. Verified enquiry and traffic data will be added once measured.

Lessons
For unfamiliar propositions, the 'how it works' section is not a supporting section. It is the page. Treating it as the centre of the homepage rather than a strip below the fold changed the whole structure.
